TiVo is TV on your terms

What is TiVo?

TiVo is a highly-enjoyable service that allows you to do basically two things:

(1) You can record your favorite shows and TV programs with a digital video recorder (called a DVR), which is similar to the familiar VCR but actually records the television shows on a hard drive (like your computer's) rather than on a magnetic VCR tape. As you might well guess, this leads to  better recording quality and eliminates annoyances such as tracking errors, etc. 

This digital recording also means that you can watch your favorite recorded shows without all of the commercials!  Can you imagine commercial-free TV?  TiVo makes it your reality!

TiVo allows you to record up to 140 hours of your favorite TV shows, and you can set up elaborate and varied recording schedules, which will be explained in more detail at the bottom of this page.

(2) TiVo service allows you to control live television, meaning you can pause, rewind, replay, or watch TV in slow-motion.  That's right, we said live television.  Imagine being able to see your favorite sports play over and over again or not worry if you need to take a break during your favorite television programs.  With TiVo service, you have complete viewing freedom.

If you want to start using the TiVo service, you'll need to do two things. 

(1) Get a digital video recorder

(2) And subscribe to TiVo for 12.95 per month.
