V - The abbreviation for volt. (See Volt.)
V Series - ITU-T standards that regulate data communications
over the telephone network.
VA - This stands for volt-ampere and is a measurement
of power. It is just the voltage multiplied by the ampere
level of the current.
Variance - The average of the squared deviation (difference
from the mean).
Vertical Refresh Rate - The number of times per second
a monitor redraws its screen.
Very High Frequency (VHF) - This frequency spectrum portion
is between 30 MHz and 300 MHz in frequency.
Very Low Frequency (VLF) - This frequency spectrum portion
between 3 KHz and 300 KHz.
VHF - see Very High Frequency.
Video - The portion of communications that we see with
our eyes: still pictures but mainly motion pictures.
VLF - see Very Low Frequency.
Virus - A software program that replicates itself and
harms computers on a network.
Volt - The unit of measurement of electromotive force;
it is the force needed to push an ampere of current through a resistance
of one ohm.
VRAM - Video RAM (see Random Access Memory).
VSAT - This stands for Very Small Aperture Terminal, and
refers to small earth stations, usually with an aperture between
1.2 and 2.4 meters. See USAT.
VSWR - This stands for Voltage Standing Wave Ratio, and
is a way to measure the amount of mismatch in a cable, waveguide,
or antenna system.
