Electronics and satellite switches
Satellite switches need to be used whenever satellite
owners want to connect more than two satellite receivers to a single
satellite dish with dual-LNB, or when owners connect multiple satellite
dishes to multiple satellite receivers.
Switches will serve to route and guide the satellite
signal to the appropriate receivers in the house. Since there are
so many types of switches out there, it's hard to know how to get
started. We've decided to list a few common switches (as well as
some other devices) below so you can familiarize yourself with the
terminology.
Side note: diplexers are devices that allow the combined
satellite and antenna signals to be separated.
- 4-Channel Switch - These are made to work most all DBS,
DSS and DVB systems. Four different receivers can display different
satellite channels.
- 8-Channel Switch - These are made to work most all DBS,
DSS and DVB systems. Eight different receivers can display different
satellite channels.
- Switches that hook up 4 receivers to 2 satellite dishes
where each dish is pointed at a different satellite.
- Switches that hook up 8 receivers to 2 satellite dishes
where each dish is pointed at a different satellite.
- Dish Network DP34 Switch - This switch hooks up four Dish
Network receivers to three satellite dishes.
- Dish Network DP21 Switch - This switch hooks up two inputs
(for up to three orbital satellite locations) to one satellite
receiver.
- Dish Network Legacy SW21 Switch - This device hooks up two
inputs (up to three orbital satellite locations) to one receiver,
and combines two dual-LNBF's into one coaxial line. This switch
can be use for a single or dual-dish Dish Network system, and
it permits voltage switching between the two satellite dishes.
- 22kHz Switch - this is a power passing, 22 kHz switch that
is used to operate 2 LNBs.
- Diplexers - This device can either separate or combine satellite
signals and TV antenna signals from or onto a single feed coaxial
line.
- 4-way splitters - 5 to 2050 MHz
- 2-way splitters - 5 to 2050 MHz
- In-Line Amplifier - This device compensates for long runs
and splitters by amplifying the signal.
- Surge Protectors - This device protects your home electronic
equipment from power surges.
- RCA A/B Switch - This device allows you to switch between
a cable and VCR input to your television set.
You can get free satellite equipment (a
free
satellite dish and up to 5 free receivers) when you start new
Direct TV or Dish Network service.
