TV Remote Controls

When you press a key on your TV remote control, that action (known as a key-press) is translated into infrared light signals (see electromagnetic spectrum) that travel to a receiver on your television. That command is then carried out by the television set, VCR, receiver, etc.

These days, it probably seems like you're getting remote controls for everything: your tuner, VCR, TV, DVD player, etc. Remote controls are getting harder to keep track of, and getting one universal remote control to handle the functions of all of your other ones might be starting to sound like a good idea.

In the future, you might want to expect everything to be controlled by remote control. They may one day operate everything from window blinds to turning off the oven. We hope you like them as they're here to stay.
