Satellite Positions
Find satellite positions in geostationary orbit.
In the Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO), which is 22,237
miles up in space and above the equator, satellites appear to hover
fixed in space above the earth. This is because at that exact
height and position, the satellite is synchronized
to the rotation of the earth, orbiting at the same angular velocity
at which the earth rotates.
As you might guess, putting satellites in the geostationary
orbit is incredibly useful, offering stable satellite slots
for reliable communications and broadcasts.
